The Story Behind the Logo: How I Found Power Through My Weakness
My logo was made to tell a story. A story about searching for something I was once told didn’t exist. A story marked by triumphant peaks, and lonely valleys. A story of how my weakness actually led me to discover what makes me well—and how that discovery now helps me support others who are on their own health journeys.
My logo tells a story, and in this post I share some of that story…
The Mountains
The top of the logo is a mountain range. I grew up a short drive from the Appalachian Mountains. I’ve spent summers working in the Colorado Rockies. My wife & I honeymooned in Banff. But the most significant mountain range in my health journey is in Joshua Tree National Park. I’ve taken many spiritual retreats there for silence & solitude, playing & praying, fasting & journaling, backpacking & singing. It’s a cathartic place of peace for me.
But I vividly remember going to Joshua tree after I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis & Rheumatoid Arthritis. If you’re familiar with the symptoms of UC & RA, you know my pain. And while my symptoms were painful, the pain of admitting that my body could no longer handle the rigor of the mountains was worse. My autoimmune diseases had taken so many hobbies, freedoms & joys away from me, and I was devastated at the thought of losing yet another part of my life I loved.
As I sat on a mountainside I questioned, “Why me? Why was my body failing me in the prime of my life? Why were my medications not working? Why did God allow me to have these diseases?” The loneliness of the desert echoed the loneliness I felt in my health journey.
But at that mountainside, God spoke to me: “Vivek, my power is made perfect through weakness.”
In that moment, I accepted that my journey wasn’t about being healed and getting back to the way things were. My journey was about walking with God, embracing my weakness, & being a conduit through which my journey could serve others. I didn’t know what that would look like. But I hiked out of the mountains with newfound hope that changed the trajectory of my life.
“Vivek, my power is made perfect through weakness.”
Much like hiking a mountain, my path to wellness has ups & downs. But through it I’ve gained knowledge & skills needed to not only help my body, but help others also. I started Vivek Wellness to help those who feel lost or stuck in their health journey. I want to be the guide I wish I had—offering hope, support, & a path to find what makes them well.
Since that moment, I’m grateful to share that I’ve done multiple retreats to mountains in Joshua Tree. And just like a hike through the mountains, the path to wellness isn’t easy, but it’s worth every step.
The Concept of Reflection
The mountain range in my logo has a reflection below it. This isn’t just an aesthetic choice—it's a reminder of what the journey to health entails. True health isn’t just about outer change; it also involves an inner change. And both kinds of change require deep reflection.
As I’ve walked my path to health, the inner growth & character development have been as valuable as the outward changes such as symptom-relief. And reflection has been vital for both. Reflection helped me find the motivation to pursue my goals. Reflection helped me grow in awareness of the obstacles in my way. And reflection has been essential in helping me discern between the things I needed guidance and support with in my health journey, and the things that only I could provide for myself.
“True health isn’t just about outer change; it also involves an inner change.”
Just like a still reflection on water, the work of self-reflection can be quiet & deep. But the ripple effects of reflection during your health journey are profound. You won’t just see transformations in your physical health. You’ll also see a transformation in your ability to walk through life with hope, confidence, & purpose.
The Hidden "V" and "W"
If you look closely at the reflection beneath the mountains, you'll notice a subtle "V" on top of a "W." These letters represent the name of my practice—Vivek Wellness—but they symbolize much more.
If the mountains in the logo are meant to symbolize walking a path to health, then the "V" and "W" underneath the mountains symbolize how Vivek Wellness is here to be a strong and steady support throughout your path. Like a solid rock beneath a shifting landscape, I’m here to guide you and provide stability & strength as you move forward.
“If someone is struggling to find what makes them well, I hope they find Vivek Wellness.”
Each person’s genetics, preferences, and circumstances come together to form a unique health journey. And while each person’s journey is unique, each person deserves the same kind of steady & effective support. That’s exactly what I do. I relish the opportunity to be a firm foundation underneath each client, offering steady support in their path to wellness. If someone is struggling to find what makes them well, I hope they find Vivek Wellness.
Every element of my logo is a reflection of the journey I hope to walk with people. The mountains symbolize each person’s unique path, the reflection beneath the mountains represents the reflection I encourage in a person’s health journey to foster inner & outer health, and the hidden "V" and "W" stand for the steady, unwavering support Vivek Wellness offers as we find what makes you well. I know a logo can’t possibly communicate everything I want my practice to be about. But these are core elements of my practice that I’m proud to share with you, and driven to live out.
